Ethics in Brave New WorD
In Brave New World, Aldous Huxley's predictions of modern life is technological. He sets the world as a utopia, having a different world in the future . Three ethical issues Huxley uses is soma as happiness, The Hatchery London is where eggs have predestined lives. Everyone is basically the same so they don't acquire individuality.
Huxley uses soma as a way of being happy. Soma is a big part of the book because everyone uses this pill to leave of their worries. In chapter 3 "Take a holiday from reality whenever you like, and come back without so much as a headache or a mythology," soma was used to forget everything and be in peace. When lenina and Bernard were watching the stars they noticed that it lead to thoughts. "That the second soma had raised a quite impenetrable wall between the actual universe and their minds." Both decided to take soma even though Bernard didn't want to. He wanted to live and feel other feelings. But he knew that would lead to trouble.
Huxley created the center London hatchery and conditioning centre as a copier where they would produce a number humans and determine their lives. In the text it states "The predestinates send in their figures to the fertilizers" some were ranked higher than others. Epilosns were less valuable than alphas. Their body was not strong enough to fit it. It is wrong to choose who is more better because of what their born. Mr.foster says "The lower the caste, the shorter the oxygen" because they are useless, they don't deserve as much.
No one in the utopia is able to live freely meaning so individuality. Bernard wants to live without restrictions but isn't allowed to do so. The text says " I know quite well why I can't what would it be like if I could .. i were free not enslaved by my conditioning " Bernard feels unsure of who he is. He wants to be able to do various things. He is different than others because he doesn't really know who he is.

REFLECTION On Quarter 3
IN QUARTER 3, I LEARNED WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS BETWEEN NATURE AND NURTURE. ETHICS ARE WHAT IS WRONG AND RIGHT. WHAT RELATIVISM AND ABSOLUTISM IS. YES I LEARNED MY LEARNING GOALS. YES I LEARNING GRADE BECAUSE I COMPLETE MY ASSIGNMENTS . THE MOST MEANINGFUL ASSIGNMENT WAS READING THE TEXT BRAVE NEW WORLD AND THE WHITE LIE BECAUSE THEY BROUGHT THE TOPICS INTO IT. WHAT I GAINED THE MOST WAS THE DEBATES BECAUSE THEY WAY THEY BROUGHT ETHICS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD FOR DOING EXAMPLE QUESTIONS FROM THE AP TEST. I WANT TO LEARN THE COLLEGE PROCESS.
